One Month of The Healing Path
30 March 2025
So it’s the end of March. I have been at The Healing Path one month. In that time I have planted 11 more trees. I now have Almond, Walnut, 4 hazelnut trees, Nectarine, Plum, Apricot, Apple, Cherry and Pear. I have planted about 12 bushes to grow into Hedges. I have installed the water tank which filled too quickly and couldn’t be shut off. So that will have to be fixed. I have one dug bed, one no dig bed for veggies, and I have about 20 seedlings ready for planting in a few days.
Inside the house, I have organised the kitchen to be functional and installed the dishwasher and washing machine for clothes and the gas cooker. I have repaired a wall the electrician broke.
One of the bedrooms has now been stripped repaired and painted and just needs some finishing touches. The toilet floor has had the lino removed and the wooden planks sanded. The largest bedroom is almost stripped of paper and needs perhaps another day before it’s ready for painting.
That’s what one month does. One month alone, daily prayer and meditation, daily study, daily work. Not too much any day, but a sober living routine. I have tried to be conscious to post on social media the updates and videos.
I am also having days where I struggle and days where I dance. I had moment of overwhelm and thought I have neither the knowledge nor finances to repair certain areas of the house. The finances will come I am sure and the knowledge was in the end easy to find on the internet. I reached out to those who know better than I and answers came.
I have availed of meetings online and text messages and phone calls. I am unused to living in such isolation. The shop is not a walk down the road. It’s a whole different way of living. It’s very calm, it’s very beautiful, but when the wind blows, it blows hard and there is not much else to do if you had planned a day in the garden.
Being flexible and having a minimum required work and study has created my discipline. No I am not fast, but there is not rush. The Healing Path is a rehab, and a way of life, it’s free for anyone wanting recovery.
It’s ready to receive you, and all spirits are welcome, as long as they come with respect.
